Plans, billing, and canceling

Understand free and paid plans, upgrade, downgrade, or cancel.

DwellHQ has a generous free plan and two paid plans. This article covers what is in each plan, how to upgrade or downgrade, and what happens if you cancel. See the pricing page for current prices and feature comparisons.

The three tiers

DwellHQ has three plan tiers. Free is for trying things out or managing a single small home. Personal removes the entity limit and adds a collaborator slot. Professional adds unlimited homes and more collaborators per home, plus extra storage.

The sections below cover each tier in detail.

Free plan

  • 1 home
  • 10 entities per home, where each room, item, and active maintenance task counts as one entity. Service records do not count.
  • Maintenance reminders and service-record history

Personal plan

  • 1 home with unlimited entities
  • 1 collaborator
  • Document storage
  • Home research notes
  • Contractor tracking
  • AI task suggestions
  • Home improvement project tracking (write access)

Professional plan

  • Unlimited homes
  • Up to 10 collaborators per home
  • Everything in Personal

Upgrading

  1. Open Settings → Subscription.
  2. Pick the plan and billing cadence (monthly or annual — annual is cheaper per month).
  3. Enter your payment details. Stripe handles the transaction.
Paid features unlock immediately. You can switch between monthly and annual at any time from Settings → Subscription.

Downgrading and the entity budget

If you downgrade to free and have more than 10 entities, DwellHQ does not delete anything. Reads stay open so your data is never hidden. New creates and task completions are blocked until you get under the budget.

To get back under the budget without losing data, archive rooms and items you no longer track, or deactivate maintenance tasks you no longer want to run.

Canceling

  1. Open Settings → Subscription.
  2. Click Cancel subscription.
  3. You keep access to paid features through the end of your current billing period. After that you return to the free-plan limits.

Refunds

If something went wrong with a charge — a billing mistake, a feature you never used because of a bug — contact us and we'll take a look. We don't do automatic prorated refunds on cancel, but we do want you to feel good about every charge.
