Getting started

Create your account and set up your first home.

DwellHQ keeps a complete record of your home — every room, every item, every maintenance schedule, and every service record. This guide walks through creating your account and setting up your first home.

Create your account

  1. Visit the sign-up page.
  2. Choose either email and password or sign in with Google. Either method works the same once your account is created.
  3. Verify your email address if you signed up with email and password. You will get a verification link in your inbox.
  4. Review and accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy on first sign-in.

Add your first home

After signing in you will be prompted to add a home. You only need an address — DwellHQ uses the address to determine your timezone, which is used for reminder scheduling.

  1. Enter the home's street address.
  2. Give the home a short name (e.g. "Main house" or "Lake cabin") so it is easy to identify if you later add more.
  3. Optionally mark the home as a prospect if you are researching it before purchase. You can flip it to active later.
Free accounts can have 1 home with up to 10 rooms, items, and active maintenance tasks combined. Upgrade to a paid plan to remove those limits.

Two-factor authentication

Two-factor authentication adds a second step at sign-in: alongside your password, you enter a one-time code from an authenticator app. It protects your account if your password is ever stolen or leaked elsewhere.

  1. Go to Settings, then the "Two-factor authentication" section.
  2. Scan the QR code with an authenticator app (1Password, Google Authenticator, Authy).
  3. Enter the six-digit code shown in the app to confirm.
  4. Save the recovery codes that appear after setup. They are the only way to sign in if you lose access to your authenticator.
TOTP secrets are encrypted at rest with a server-side key, so even DwellHQ administrators cannot read them without that key.

AI home setup

AI home setup lets you describe your rooms and items in natural language instead of entering them one at a time. Anthropic Claude (via Vercel AI Gateway) reads your descriptions and drafts an inventory, which you review and edit before saving.

Only the text you write is sent to the AI provider. Photos, documents, and other home data stay in DwellHQ.
